For this device there were three primary tests conducted. The first test was a pass/fail test to determine whether the device worked or not (the ability of the device to heat 55°F water to 185°F). The second test was to determine the capabilities of device. During this test, the flow rate of the discharge water was modulated between .25 GPM and 1 GPM and the discharge temperature was recorded. Since there are different hot water requirements throughout the brewing process, the ability of the device to control to these temperatures was crucial. The last test was a 5-gas analyzer test. This test was done to measure the quality of the burn (i.e. if the burner system was burning efficiently).
